Rational Benefits

Economic Security

Security

The most obvious benefit of domestic fuel production is economic security. A stable, domestic supply of energy other than oil is becoming an urgent national priority because dependence upon foreign oil depletes our economy and exposes us to oil price shocks. Energy security leads to economic security. Domestic production of U.S. petroleum peaked in 1970, and all anticipated additional domestic sources of petroleum combined would not meet current demand. Dependence on imported petroleum products limits our opportunities for growth, increases costs of doing business, constrains our political options worldwide and provides for a significant transfer of wealth out of our country. Only a different source of feedstock can change the current marketplace.

Trade

Rational Energies will help develop local economies and create sustainable jobs for Americans. By producing fuel within the United States, Rational Energies will help reduce the trade deficit; even a small portion of the energy market represents billions of dollars. The economic multiplier effect of domestic energy production means that dollars re-circulate in our own economy and contribute to overall GDP growth.

Local Production

By its nature, renewable energy is a regional business due to the cost and logistical challenges incurred by transporting biomass and MSW over large distances. Rational Energies will establish strong ties between plants, partners, and the communities where the plants are built, producing high-value fuel for local markets. Local revenue creation benefits the economy, improves the quality of life in the community and creates local jobs. Jobs in a domestic fuel production business will never be exported overseas.
