Rational Benefits
Energy demand, energy security, and ecological concerns are driving growth in renewable fuels. Sustainability, which was once considered a buzzword among environmental groups, is now understood as a core element of successful enterprises. Rational Energies has created a business model and production process that encompasses these principles.
We Make Synthetic Crude Oil
The oil market is large and very active. In fact, oil is the number one commodity traded in the world today. Synthetic Crude Oil, or “Syncrude” is a direct substitute for petroleum and is typically blended with petroleum and refined into diesel and gasoline or jet fuel along side other petroleum stocks. Syncrude is chemically similar to petroleum but is a low sulfur (“sweet”) and low density (“light”) crude oil similar to West Texas Intermediate crude oil (See WTI on NYMEX). SynCrude also has a low Total Acid Number and is therefore relatively non-corrosive to refinery equipment. Refineries can use syncrude as a “drop-in” replacement for traditional petroleum. Oil refiners value syncrude because it has no “bottoms” or waste products attached such as sulfur, and therefore almost all of it can be converted into high value products.
Benefits Of Rational Energies Syncrude:
- Low sulfur
- Low density
- Low tar content
- Can be used in existing infrastructure
- Syncrude does NOT come from new oil or imported oil
- Reduces the volume of plastic flowing into landfills
When We Make Diesel We Will Not Make Biodiesel
As technology evolves we will incorporate new systems and capabilities into our production processes allowing us to expand our product offerings and improve the environmental benefits of our fuels.
For example, our diesel fuel will be chemically similar to petroleum diesel but because it results in less lifecycle green house gas emissions, it will qualify as a renewable fuel. In fact, because our fuel requires no modification of any engine, storage of distribution system, our fuel will be considered a “drop-in” fuel. However, most biodiesel is made from high cost feedstock such as soy oil and therefore most biodiesel producers require government subsidy to operate profitably. Rational Energies does not.
Benefits of Rational Energies Renewable Diesel Fuel:
- Will not clog fuel filters
- Contains less sulfur than fossil based ultra low sulfur diesel
- Suitable in cold weather operations
- Use supported by engine manufacturers
- Can be handled in pipelines or fuel storage facilities
- Meets ASTM D975 fuel quality specification
